520 | _aThis article recounts a survey aimed at characterising the professional ethos of mathematicians conducted by sending a questionnaire over the Internet to mathematicians and researchers in math-related sciences. The technical problems encountered in preparing the survey and during the survey process give a clear idea of the poor conditions for under which sociological research is carried out at the CNRS. But the reactions of the professional milieu under study already revealed some of the features of its ethos. | ||
