520 _aThis article explores the concept of engagement in a specific context — the modes of contact for people who stutter. Stuttering has very little documented in the Gestalt literature; it is an attempt to produce contact in site of everything. In this article, the author identifies five registers of “stutter control” commonly found in such patients. It therefore provides an original outlook, spotting an initial phase of re-engagement, then registers on over-engagement to finally invite the person who stutters to cross a necessary paradox, the engagement in letting go all the way to surrendering to his word.
