520 _aDespite attempts, the October 2020 presidential election has not contributed toward the pacification of the country. The death of the outgoing president’s appointed successor created an unprecedented situation and provoked a constitutional debate. Alassane Ouattara’s economic record counted in his favor, despite being ambivalent, as growth has had no real social impact. Moreover, the wounds from the previous civil war remain wide open. Despite attempts at reconciliation, the election missed a turning point that should have consolidated democracy and peace in Côte d'Ivoire. A considerable amount of work remains.
