520 _aIn this paper, we analyze the transformation of the coordination in firms that modernize. We observe that the massive and transversal adoption of information and communication technologies (ICT) and new practices of work organization (like quality standards, just-in-time production system or team work) lead to an intensification of the communication of workers, an extension of their communication perimeter, and more generally, to the development of non hierarchical communication networks. In this perspective, we consider the interpersonal communication as a favored coordination mechanism in firms that modernize.
