520 _aPierre Schaeffer had raised an issue concerning the use of communication means among social groups with common interests. As a concrete example, this article aims at presenting the emergence and working conditions of a specific social communication networks: Antélim radio, which was designed for sailors and which was like a possible prefiguration of Internet. Firstly, a recall of the theorizations, research and experiences carried out during the 60s and 70s, will bring out the conditions of a participative communication, both interactive and multipolar, that could stand as an alternative to the currently dominating media pattern. Secondly, the study of the experimentation conducted in France between 1978 and 1985 in the field of the merchant navy, within the Antélim network, will put into focus the origin of the project as well as its implementation and will introduce an assessment of the experience. Finally, the question of an Internet prefiguration through these specific social communication networks and via the radio will be raised to try to define the possible parallels between those two disposals.
