520 _aThis article brings out the influence of Edgar Morin’s ideas in the Brazilian context, by describing the relationship that developed between the Social Service for Commerce (SESC) and its Escola SESC in particular, and the thinking of Edgar Morin, which has greatly contributed to several fields of knowledge. The SESC is a national body founded in 1946, whose mandate revolves around the concept of well-being through the culture, education, health and leisure sectors. In 2008, the SESC inaugurated a secondary-level boarding school (lycée), which promoted an innovative educational model in Brazil. The thinking of Edgar Morin guided the construction of the Escola SESC educational project and was an inspiration for the continuation and consolidation of the establishment.
