520 _aUncommunication, according to D. Wolton, is communication’s horizon. This idea signals a radical break with the cybernetics paradigm that has nourished communication studies for so long. But in this article, we try to show that uncommunication, far from destroying communication, is what breathes life into it. First, we explain exactly what we mean by communication and uncommunication, before discussing the main theoretical contributions on uncommunication. Finally, we show that uncommunication is not the dramatically envisaged horizon of communication, but the spice that gives it life.
