520 _aThe droit de parcours (long-haul grazing-related right of easement) is a well-known historical topic among French ruralists. Nonetheless, it has been studied only rarely, and its medieval origins in particular are shrouded in obscurity, due to the lack of explicit sources dealing with it. Thus the trial which oppposed the Templars of Laramet and the inhabitants of Plaisance at the end of the 13th century is truly exceptional in this regard, since it allows us to assess the extent to which this right existed in Gascony and Languedoc, understand its foundations, and explore its various modalities.
