| 520 | _aIn order to conceive of globalized popular music as one of the possible ways through which the intercultural is realized, this article draws on two concepts that are not usually associated with one another. The first is that of the “scene” as this term is used in music; this provides a way to approach popular music by relating, in a single analytic movement, globalized music genres and their local appropriations. The second, “interculturality,” allows for a conceptualization of how distinct symbolic universes encounter each other through intercultural communication, especially in relation to the media. | ||
