520 _aInformal caregiving at home for a person at the end of life is determined by a number of different factors. An integrated model has been developed in the context of a Swiss national research program, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the diverse interactions and effects. It shows how stressors and available resources originate at different levels of the system (micro-, meso-, and macrosystem) and, therefore, not only the caregiver and the patient are to be considered, but politics, institutions and professionals as well. Thus, in order to ensure a satisfactory experience for all actors concerned, and to adequately support informal caregivers, it is important to get involved at all levels of the system.
