520 | _aPsychiatric patients have a reduced life expectancy due to higher levels of somatic comorbidity. Difficulty accessing health care is still the underlying cause despite raised awareness of the issue in recent years. Psychiatric patient care must be comprehensive, everything from the law to hospital departments. The Centre Hospitalier Le Vinatier has a dedicated medico-psychiatric unit capable of handling multiple complex somatic symptom disorders. In a crisis, the importance of timing in the care of these patients cannot be overstated. Medico-psychiatric units are a complementary part of the comprehensive care around the psychiatric subject and function concurrently with medical services dedicated to a vulnerable patient population. | ||
