520 _a“French society (Hicham Benaïssa says) maintains a racial relationship with Nahel M.’s body and that of the others, the one valuable explanation allowing to justify for dozen years, their continuous agglomeration in the same dilapidated and despised places, in the suburbs of major cities”. This analysis of Nahel’s murder (27 June 2023) tends to erase the historicity of this racial relationship in France since October 1961. The paper proposes to use an analysis of the “social generations” of the children of Maghrebi immigrants, to situate these facts in a longterm socio-history of this “socio-racial” group in France.
