520 _aThis article focuses on the characteristics of participants’ digital identity on professional social networking sites. Highlighting the idea of identity, the study considers the two main dimensions that have a significant impact on the exchanges produced within a digital professional network: social identity and discursive identity. I also focus on the technodiscursive characteristics of the forum, which allow participants to develop their identity within the framework of an online community of practice. To illustrate the numerous aspects of this professional digital identity, the study looks at the French forum infirmiers.com, which gives participants the opportunity to discuss various medical topics (training, exams, professional activities, and so on). The analysis of the corpus highlights, on the one hand, the linguistic and visual processes that promote the social identity of the speaker (pseudonyms, visual elements, personal preferences, and so on). On the other hand, the study of some of the messages indicates strategies aimed at developing the discursive identity of participants in the professional interactions produced online.
