520 _aThis article describes the experience of the parish of Saint-François-de-Sales in Liège, Belgium. In the programme of youth catechesis, we try to engage young people in a personal expression of faith. Two age groups are covered by this article: children preparing for First Communion, around 7-8 years of age; adolescents preparing for Confirmation, around 16-17 years of age.Using age-appropriate methods, we invite them to draw up a “creed” that could be used in the celebration of First Communion or of Confirmation.Inviting young people to put into words that which is at the core of their faith is one way of encouraging them to reflect on and situate themselves with regard to faith.The article also describes a similar exercise in composition carried out in the parish community, taking as its starting point the personal expression of each parishioner, subsequently put into final form by a small group.Perhaps these words will awaken in you the desire to add your own words, your own personal touch….
