520 _aBurnout is a form of stress linked to the workplace that can befall people who have an idealised perception of themselves and unrealistic expectations with regard to their work. Organizational aspects of the working environment in church institutions can also predispose their workers to burnout. The risks linked to burnout as well as the warning signs have an important impact on three aspects that are intrinsically linked in all pastoral practice, namely: the personal (intra), interpersonal (inter) and organizational (extra) aspects, which together give shape and meaning to the practices of the pastoral minister. The co-authors bring to bear a combination of psychodynamic and developmental approaches in order to understand the human being at the core of this phenomenon. They present elements of a model of integral formation for pastoral ministers that could contribute to preventing the sufferings associated with burnout by focusing on self-actualization.
