520 _aThis study examines the quantitative and qualitative factors that influence the solvency of microcredit beneficiaries, particularly that of male and female beneficiaries in France. We focus on three categories of factors related to microcredit beneficiaries, their entrepreneurial venture, and the microfinance institution. We study the impact of these factors on solvency among 222 female and 468 male microcredit beneficiaries. The results suggest that family status is a distinct solvency-related factor for women benefiting from microcredit, while entrepreneurial motivation is more significant for their male counterparts. Our findings also show that ventures launched in the commercial sector have a marked influence on women’s solvency, while those introduced into the industrial sector impact that of men. In addition, innovative ventures tend to influence solvency, especially among the women benefiting from microcredit.
