520 _aMauritania has been developing specific healthcare policies for a long time. Yet the country remains highly affected by major inequalities and difficulties concerning access to healthcare. In a first section, we propose an analytical framework following the capability approach and A. Sen's work, and we focus on different forms of access to healthcare. In a second section, we illustrate this framework using data from Mauritania. Finally, we conclude with the idea of a health threshold as a benchmark for access to healthcare by local populations.
