520 | _aThe purpose of this article is to show that Dewey’s naturalistic aesthetics was influenced by Darwinian evolutionism and Frederick Matthias Alexander’s thought. These factors led Dewey to formulate his own version of naturalistic aesthetics with non-Cartesian, dynamic and broad understanding of the subject, which might also include animals. As a result, the philosopher coined a kind of anti-anthropocentrism in his aesthetics that contributed to his aesthetics being far ahead his time. | ||
