520 _aThe author seeks to examine the benefits of broadening the concept of transference to the field of social intervention, by returning to the concept of institutional transference. Understanding intervention as the displaced site of the institutional collective helps us to analyze the norms and representations of organized systems as they are internalized by social actors. Focusing on the transference process during an intervention with the members of work collectives who have experienced the suicide of a colleague helps us begin to understand what at first appears enigmatic, and can only be approached in an indirect manner.
