520 | _aThe growing visibility of homosexuality in the media is sometimes seen as a sign of greater social acceptance and other times as a factor in the spread of “gayfriendly” attitudes. By shifting the focus to the individual experiences, this paper questions the role of the media in homosexual biographies and, more specifically, the variations in their socializing effects. Rather than shedding light directly on the “media effects”, this analysis, based on interviews with respondents from various social backgrounds and of different genders, will focus on their “media practices” and their temporal and social anchoring. | ||
