| 520 | _aAccess to sensory pleasures is one of the main challenges of early childhood. If all the senses are not equally invested during this primal period, most young children will implement different strategies to develop sensory pleasure in the less invested senses from those where the pleasure experience is more consistent. The author calls this process: “relaunching sensory pleasure through intermodal detours”. However, some young children will find it more difficult to implement these different detours. Some will experience generalized displeasure in such a way that there will be no room for scaffolding. Others will experience their sensoriality in such an intense way that the processing of sensory information will be defective and will not allow for intermodal investment. Finally, the author will discuss the possibility for professionals to facilitate access to intermodal detours by co-constructing them with young children. | ||
