By focusing on the phenomena of technological mediation and on the materiality of intermediation work, we question the capacity of platforms to influence and configure practices, to configure forms of authority, to organize action by imposing constraints, but also the existence of modes of appropriation and criticism on the part of users, often “dominated” by these platforms. From the articles in this dossier, we show that these logics of platformization manifest themselves in three ways that seem to impose themselves as transversal dynamics to the different fields investigated: logics of rationalization, standardization and subjectivation of practices. Thus, we show that the study of the dynamics of platformization, which allows us to reconcile the fine analysis of the norms and constraints inscribed in the technologies and the consideration of the modes of resistance, opens an original way to pursue the critical examination of the development of digital platforms.
