245 0 0 _aThe Topic of Suicide, the Encounter as a Gamble: Some Prevention Systems within the Adolescent Suicide Movement
260 _c2014.

520 _aSuicide is the primary cause of death for fifteen to twenty-four-year-olds in Switzerland. The encounter with an adolescent prone to a suicidal attempt is a key moment. The authors develop the idea that this encounter can be used as a way of approaching the subject of suicidal intentions brought up by the adolescent. During this encounter, the crisis unit (a partnership between Geneva University Hospitals and the Children Action Foundation) for adolescents in Geneva will propose tailored treatment. The article focuses on the prerequisites of asking for help and the response systems—either in the presence of the adolescent or remotely—that are currently offered by the prevention wing of the unit. The authors think that these different methods cannot substitute each other, but that it is essential to combine them in order for a meeting to take place.
