520 _aThe Catholic Church plays an active role in supporting the emergence of a democratic Africa. Through its continued efforts, it supports the African Continent in developing a sound organization and managerial model. However, can the Catholic Church see beyond the burdens it carries as well those brought on by disparate cultural approaches to democracy in sub-Saharan Africa ? Ultimately, can it provide relevant solutions to the endemic political decadence that can be ascribed to one party rule and a lip service given to a multi party system ? Each rooted in its own singular context, local churches contribute to the rise of a proud and prosperous Africa. These obstacles notwithstanding, brave words can be heard asserting the importance of justice and respect for the law. Can the African tradition of a consensus-based form of democracy successfully transition to meet the demands of today’s world ?
