520 _aThe questions of growth and decline can be approached from the perspective of various disciples, in particular that of social ethics. For its part, this contribution seeks to understand what fundamental theology has to say about growth. With particular reference to scriptural data, we will seek to uncover the duplicity sometimes contained in contemporary understandings of the terms “innovation”, “progress”, and “growth”.
