520 | _aThe aim of this paper is to indicate the main features of pragmatism, as it developed during the twentieth century. Attention is given to the views of the leading pragmatists, from Peirce to Dewey, and also to the influence of pragmatism, in its later form, on aesthetics and continental philosophy. The author notes a contrast between the pragmatism of Peirce, its originator, and that of later pragmatists such as Dewey and Rorty. His own bias is in favour of pragmatism in its original form. | ||
