520 _aIn this work, the authors put forward two hypotheses to explain narcissistic suffering : the intensity of the narcissistic-objectal antagonism (and the solipsistic temptation) and the deficiency of the metaphorical capacity (which prevents patients from overcoming this by sharing the experience of the world). They base this on their clinical experience, and a theoretical reflection that draws on psychoanalysis and philosophy. They attempt to draw out some of its therapeutic implications.
