520 _aThrough a reading of Olivier Bonard’s report, guided both by the diversity of the clinical presentations and by the fertility of the metaphors, the paths of affect towards theory are revisited. The dazzling nature of the expressions of affect are matched by the emergence of a representation, an interpretation. All these Einfallen initiate the possibility of getting beyond stupefaction, which can only be operative in a temporality other than that of an emergency. In this work, reliance on the notion of the lawyers of the id provides a link between the clinical material of the session and metapsychology. However, Bonard’s tour de force is also to show, through the processuality of psychoanalytic work, that it is at the very moment when, in a striking reversal, the patient becomes the advocate of the analyst’s id, following an instance of acting out for example, that he or she can gain access to his or her own theory.
