520 _a“What is remembered lives”: this quote from the movie Nomadland by Chloé Zhao (2020) could sum up the goal of the Digital Memorial for the Victims of the Shoah in Luxembourg. Since February 2022, this project aims at telling the stories of the more than 5,000 people who lived in Luxembourg before or during World War II and who were persecuted during the Shoah. Their stories are gathered on a website conceived as a participatory project, from its “Welcome” page to the family biographies, and accessible to researchers, schools, and families alike. But the website is only the “front office” of the project, as the data gathered for the research can also be used for quantitative analysis, data visualization, etc.
