520 _aThe French language, a key instrument of the Francophonie, has often given rise to controversy because it has been politicised. France’s linguistic strategy has changed in the last decades, advocating a dialogue between cultures. However, a new, thus far little-studied part of recent history, will henceforth enrich the Francophonie. This is related to the vagaries of migration, following wars and political instability in some countries. Thus, the arrival of large numbers of students in exile in French higher education will alter its field. Enrolled in our various university courses, these students revitalise and enrich a somewhat lethargic Francophone university system, bringing with them a new view of the world, new fields of study…
