520 _aWe may go back to Cavell’s examination of the nature of language in The Claim of Reason in order to suggest a criticism against a significant line in analytic ethics. His treatment allows us to criticize the way in which moral theory restricts morality within fixed normative criteria and a narrow choice of concepts. In the light of his view, we may show how the rationality which governs our considerations (in morality and elsewhere) is tied to the relationship we establish with the forms of life where such considerations have a place. A new scene for moral thinking appears into view : it is concerned with measuring this relationship and in exploring new directions where it can be led.
