| 520 | _aParodying the title of a famous essay by Jacques Monod (1971), this article attempts to synthesize several research studies that have examined the relevance of opening (or not) new container terminals in recent years in Belgium. These terminals are essential components in intermodal transport networks, but they have a cost. To be profitable, the additional cost of transshipment must be offset by a gain in transport costs.
