520 _aThe different points of view in two outstanding Chilean films, El Chacal de Nahueltoro by Miguel Littin (1969) and El Pejesato by JosĂ© Luis SepĂșlveda (2009), allow us to characterize the superego under neoliberalism. In both cases, a portrait of an outcast serves as an evocation of Chilean society as a whole, and thus of its mutation between the two films: within the space of forty years, in the aftermath of dictatorship, neoliberalism has established itself. Both films mark out a form of social marginality along with its relation to the law, giving us an insight into the superego under capitalism.
