520 _aSome young patients have great difficulty in accepting a diagnosis of psychosis and in consenting to a course of therapy. Instead, they usually run away and start to lead an aimless, careless life. Through short psychiatric case histories of three young psychotic patients, we examine the difficult question of the use of involuntary psychiatric hospitalization and treatment as a last resort, and the concomitant ethical issues.
