520 _aThis text introduces the ApA, an art workshop framework created in an institutional setting caring for adolescents and following the psychoanalytic orientation. We seek to underline the close contact between art and psychiatry, rather than between art and therapy as such. How can we understand artistic discourse in the hospital? And how can psychiatry be considered as an art, in an age dominated by assessments, quantitative methods, and medication, sometimes overprescribed to adolescents? How can the artist do and undo things, while he is situated inside the care unit but is not himself an agent of care? The artist is not a caregiver but someone who opens a field of potentialities and has certain tools of trans-formation at his disposal. The essay focuses on the psychic dynamics of symptoms and the potential psychic transformations allowed by these workshops, but also the psychic dynamic of the staff, equally mobilized by this practice. These workshops are part of a clinical framework we shall discuss in greater detail, whose framework and mode of inscription in the institution can yield a definite therapeutic effect. The aim is not to create works of art, but to facilitate the adolescent’s encounter with the artistic matter and, more fundamentally, with the artist and his field of possibilities.
