520 _aDespite the absence of a reform with respect to the elderly and autonomy, a number of actions have been taken during the five-year period that is coming to an end, the most important of which will remain the salary increases for older people’s professions and the creation of the autonomy branch of social security. However, it is regrettable that there is no overall strategy to address the challenges of demographic transition. Indeed, the multiplication of missions, reports, experiments, measures, and announcements has slightly confused the orientation of the government’s strategy. In addition, three projects remain unfinished at the end of the five-year period: making the financing of autonomy sustainable, fighting against the isolation of elderly people, and “deinstitutionalizing” the sector.
