520 _aWhere is the dog? How do we study it as a “situated presence”? These are the questions that this thesis of sociology poses. It took a long journey scattered with obstacles to find the answers to them. This article first proposes to briefly recount this process to explain progressively the reasons why unbiased phenomenography was selected as a methodological context. The article will then show the main principles of this thought process allowing the forging of a new mode of presence of animals in the social sciences, particularly in anthropology.
