520 | _aThe international media, with political and ideological leanings similar to those of their hegemonic Brazilian counterparts (conservative and neoliberal, center, center-right, and right) has supported ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s sentencing, confirmed in the lower court in July of last year and ratified in the court of second instance in January of this year. Starting by examining the repercussions of Lula’s sentencing in the international media, the aim of this article is to describe the principle of presumption of guilt that prevails in the imaginary of the Brazilian mainstream media in class situations. The methodology uses a qualitative approach and the corpus is composed of national and international press outlets. | ||
