520 _aThis text aims to present a reflection on the imagination, emotions, and the creation of space, from the perspective of the broader field of architecture and urbanism. Our reflections emerge both from research activities and from practical experience as an urban architect. We focus on the recognition of emotions as driving forces that participate in the creation of architecture. As a hypothesis, we support the idea that emotions participate in the materiality of architecture through the imagination (individual and collective). In this reflection, it is important to understand the nature of the images that emerge from lived spaces, according to a collective experience. Finally, these considerations are articulated in an empirical context, as part of an overview of research carried out in the city of Recife. With this proposal, we identify experimental gaps or new possibilities to build the framework of an urban life, of which architecture is an essential part.
