A study of public procurement highlights the lack of an explicit demand for sociological evaluations, yet the need for an in-depth, explicative approach is more than ever present. However, the process of evaluation “à la française” potentially offers the needed margins for maneuver required for the development of sociological approaches. Given the increasingly pressing request for rigourous evaluations in past few years, sociologists could offer valuable insights to contribute to methodological diversity in the field of public policies.
