520 _aIntroduction: In 2014, a symposium focusing on access to healthcare was organized with input from socially excluded people, using the ATD Fourth World Guidelines for the Merging of Knowledge and Practices as the ethical framework. Can this approach be transferred to other settings? Methods: Prospective assessment of a participatory approach in the context of a symposium. Results: Strict conditions are required to ensure effective participation of extremely vulnerable people. Support, temporality and a strictly defined agenda are key factors. Conclusion: This risky but carefully controlled experiment allowed the creation of a guide to effective participation of the poorest people in the events that concern them.
