Par-delà la puissance évocatrice du rôle du figuratif dans la représentation, l’article interroge la rupture affirmée entre imitation en tant que double mental et imitation synchrone en tant que double physique de soi ou de l’autre véhiculant une confusion émotionnelle et appelée mimétisme. Les situations d’interaction sociale par l’imitation sont analysées dans leur spécificité comportementale chez de jeunes enfants, et dans leurs caractéristiques cérébrales chez de jeunes adultes. Les résultats convergent pour indiquer que ces situations apparemment basiques induisent néanmoins un dialogue moteur impliquant l’anticipation des intentions motrices de l’autre et la modulation de la planification de son action propre. Ainsi l’imitation concrète et physique se révèle-t‑elle empreinte de mentalisation. | ||

Beyond the evocative power of simulation in representation, the article questions the assertive break between imitation as a mental duplicate and synchronous imitation, called mimicry, considered as a physical duplicate conveying an emotional confusion between imitator and model. Situations of social interaction through imitation are analyzed in their behavioral specificity in young children, and in their brain characteristics in young adults. The results indicate that these seemingly basic situations of imitation nevertheless induce a motor dialogue involving the anticipation of the other’s motor intentions and the modulation of one’s own planning of action. Thus, concrete and physical imitation is marked by mentalization. | ||
