The activity involved using only discarded or abandoned and recovered materials, and assembling them into new configurations. This technique was chosen because of its evocative power, in that it acts as a metaphor for the reconstruction of the self and the world taken together. The focus was on the effort of producing form, rather than on artistic research or results.
