520			_aRésuméLa culture bretonne est marquée par des contrastes ; sur le plan géographique, elle est duelle (celtique à l’ouest et romane à l’est de la péninsule) ; sur le plan social, elle est pour les uns un mode de vie, pour les autres un objet de reproduction résiduelle et pour d’autres encore une culture sans cesse réinventée. Autre ambivalence : les origines de son renouveau culturel évoquent à la fois le nationalisme et un « néotribalisme postmoderne ». Quant aux aspirations des Bretons, elles semblent elles aussi contradictoires : individualistes avec des pulsions fusionnelles et un mélange d’attirance et de répulsion pour l’autonomie.

Geographically, it is a dual culture (Celtic to the west and Romanic to the east) ; socially, it is for some people an integral part of their way of life, for others an object of residual reproduction or a continually reinvented culture. Moreover, its ambivalence lies in the fact that the origins of its cultural revival evoke both nationalism and postmodern neotribalism, thus refering to Bretons’ aspirations that are contradictory, too : individualistic (but with fusional pulsions), with a mixture of attraction and repulsion towards autonomy.

Geographisch gesehen ist sie eine dualistische Kultur (keltisch im Norden und romanisch im Osten) ; sozial gesehen ist sie für einige ein integrierender Bestandteil ihrer Lebensweise, für andere die Nachbildung einer residualen Kultur oder eine beständig neuerfundene Kultur. Zudem liegt ihre Ambivalenz darin, dass ihre Herkunft zugleich an Nationalismus und « postmodernen Neotribalismus » erinnert, was auf die Ansprüche der Bretonen verweist, die auch widerspruchsvoll sind : individualistisch (aber mit Fusionstrieben), mit einer Mischung von Anziehung zu und Abstossung gegen Autonomie.
