| 520 | _aThis paper focuses on the first twenty years of the history of the International Labor Organization library. I study the origin of its collection, its purchases, its filing system and its access conditions to the documents, in order to show that the library was more oriented towards research in social sciences and action, than towards book preservation and storage. I describe the chaotic start of the library, which was facing the lack of a trained librarian as well as the continual arrival of upstream flow of books. As a library, a center of documentation and a laboratory of social sciences, the International Labor Organization is analyzed like a sociological institution which material organization was typical of the 1920s new documentary regime. | ||
