520			_aPour pouvoir réellement intégrer la confrontation à la finitude dans le travail thérapeutique, il faut adopter de celui-ci une vision tragique, en ne cédant pas aux tentations d’approches plus faciles, par exemple comiques ou romantiques. D’autre part, il importe de ne pas oublier que la finitude ne se réduit pas à la conscience de l’inéluctabilité de sa propre mort, mais comporte de nombreux autres aspects. Enfin, concernant la perspective de la mort, il s’avère très difficile d’en reconnaître pleinement le caractère insupportable et de résister aux multiples manières de l’édulcorer. Mais face à tout cela il importe de maintenir une capacité de prise de distance par l’ironie ou l’humour.

It is also important not to forget that finality must not be reduced to only the awareness of the inevitability of one’s own death but that it also contains many other aspects. Finally, in considering death, it is quite difficult to fully recognize its unbearable nature and to resist the many ways of watering it down. Yet, faced with all this, it is still important to have the capacity to be detached through irony or humour.
