En accompagnant un patient à qui il survient une succession de malheurs sans perspective de réconfort, j’ai été à l’écoute de mes ressentis. La détresse et l’impuissance étaient réciproques, et dans un ultime mouvement d’aller-vers, j’ai proposé avec audace d’écrire en vue d’une éventuelle publication le vécu de l’un et de l’autre. C’est alors pour moi l’occasion d’interroger ma posture et ses aléas, et pour lui la possibilité de témoigner et peut-être de retrouver une raison de vivre.

This gave me the opportunity to question my professional position and its hazards, and for my client, the opportunity to witness and perhaps find a reason to live.
