520 _aThe introduction of subjectivity and consciousness as a theme of research in the field of psychology has led us to reflect on the epistemological and methodological conditions required to achieve such a purpose. This paper offers first, a critical review of the main paths initiated over the last century by philosophers and psychologists to grasp the nature of this aspect of psychological functioning. We will then propose, by means of the ego-ecological approach, a new way to grapple with this issue.
