Leur origine réside dans le conservatisme du Comité international olympique (CIO) qui peine à penser un sport ouvert aux marges du mouvement sportif. L’étude permet de mettre à jour les logiques de localisation des olympiades, mais aussi les difficultés rencontrées par les mouvements pour organiser les compétitions. Ces dernières sont largement inspirées du format des Jeux olympiques et empruntent au protocole olympique, tout en se distinguant par leur caractère éminemment politique.
520			_aThis article offers a comparative history of alternative Olympisms during the inter-war period, focusing on the issues surrounding the organisation of the Maccabiah Games, the Women’s Games, the Workers’ Olympiads and the Spartakiades. Their origins lie in the conservatism of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which struggled to conceive of a sport open to the margins of the sporting movement. The study reveals the rationale behind the location of the Olympiads, as well as the difficulties encountered by the movements in organising the competitions. The latter are largely inspired by the format of the Olympic Games and borrow from Olympic protocol, but are distinguished by their eminently political nature.
