Using concepts from the discursive-performative approach to populism, it develops the notion of “mise en crise” that is part of the populist style, and describes how the far right constructs its crisis narrative around the supposed danger posed by immigration. Populism thus enables the far right to present its xenophobic struggle through a transgressive, popular framework.
